Starting Preschool: Big Steps, Little Learners

Building confidence, curiosity, and a love to learn

Starting preschool is a big milestone for children and families. It’s also completely normal to wonder: Is my child ready? What will the day look like?

You may feel relieved to know that readiness isn’t about knowing letters or numbers early. It’s about confidence, connection, and curiosity. When children feel safe, supported, and excited to explore, learning follows naturally. That’s where a true love to learn begins.

Start early, grow into preschool

Our schools support children from infancy through preschool (and beyond). Families can begin at any stage. Some children start with us as infants or toddlers and grow into preschool-ready learners over time. Others join us closer to their preschool years and quickly build confidence and kindergarten readiness through routines, relationships, and hands-on experiences.

Whether your child attends full- or part-time, each day helps them practice independence, build friendships, and feel comfortable in a classroom community. Those everyday moments add up, and before long, preschool feels like a familiar and exciting next step.

Signs your child may be ready

Every child develops at their own pace, but you might notice your child:

  • wanting to try things independently
  • communicating needs more clearly
  • showing interest in toilet training
  • separating from caregivers with reassurance
  • enjoying stories, puzzles, or playing with others
  • following simple directions with success

These small but meaningful steps show growing confidence. With predictable routines and caring teachers, children begin to feel capable, secure, and ready to explore even more.

What a day in preschool feels like

Preschool days are thoughtfully planned to balance play, learning, and connection. Children explore hands-on activities, build friendships, spend time outdoors, and engage in routines that help them feel confident and capable.

Our classrooms follow the Learn as We Grow® approach, supporting each child’s developmental stage, interests, and learning style. Throughout the day, teachers encourage curiosity, independence, and joyful discovery. When children feel successful and supported, their confidence grows, and so does their love to learn.

Growing a love to learn

Preschool readiness doesn’t happen at once. It grows through everyday experiences—from an infant discovering the world to a toddler trying things independently to a preschooler walking into the classroom with confidence.

We love partnering with families through each stage. Watching children grow into independent learners is one of the best parts of what we do.

Ready when you are
