Welcome to Our School

Welcome to La Petite Academy educational daycare in Federal Way, WA.

Our newly remodeled school has new floors, playgrounds and a STEM room. We provide infant and toddler care, preschool and pre-kindergarten, along with various ancillary programs such as yoga, soccer, Spanish, and music. For our parents, we offer a mobile app that provides real time updates and photos of their child's day.

Safety and security are top priorities. We have new interior and exterior cameras to view our classrooms, playgrounds, lobby and entrances and each family is given their own personal access code to enter the building. We also require that every visitor or volunteer show their I.D. upon arrival.

Many of our teachers come to us with several years of experience and we provide annual training and education opportunities for all our staff.

We have had a good experience. I especially love seeing updates throughout the day via brightwheel- it's hard to leave an infant/toddler at daycare all day so the updates make it easier because I can see that my son is having fun.

Shannon Steele, Director

Education: Child Development Associate

Certifications: CPR/1st Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens, Food Handler's, Driver Certified, and STARS Certified

I have been with La Petite Academy since 2011. I started as a Pre-K teacher, then I was promoted to Assistant Director and have been the Director here since 2013. I have worked with children for over 20 years here in the USA, London and Milan.

Certifications: CPR/1st Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens, Food Handler's, Driver Certified, and STARS Certified

I have been with La Petite Academy for 11 years, working up from a part-time Assistant Teacher role. I have been the Assistant Director for over five years. I truly believe that every child deserves to have a safe and loving educational environment to learn and grow in.

I started at La Petite two years ago as a teacher and worked my way up to team lead. I knew at a young age that I wanted to work with children, and my time here teaching children has been inspiring. A child's progression is the prize!
