Welcome to our fantastic La Petite Academy educational daycare in St. Joseph, MO, which opened in 1990. My name is Georgia Burns and in 1996, I started at La Petite and in 2004, I received the pleasure of being named director.

At La Petite Academy, our Toddler and Preschool programs provide the perfect foundation for learning and child development. Here at our school, we focus on developing the whole child. Each day, your child will be engaged in educational activities that take place in a secure, caring, and enriching environment.

Georgia Burns, Director

Education: A.A. in Early Childhood Education

Certifications: CPR & First Aid

In 1996, I started working at La Petite so I could make a difference in the lives of the children. In 2004, I was named director. I have been married to the love of my life for 26 years, and we have two wonderful children together. We also welcomed a granddaughter in 2018.

Heather Thompson, Assistant Director

Education: Child Development Associate

Certifications: CPR & First Aid

I started working at La Petite Academy in 2012 and moved up to the assistant director position in 2018. In this role, I oversee curriculum, scheduling and enrollment. I am currently enrolled in NCMC to accomplish my A.A. in early childhood education. My favorite part of my job is working one-on-one with the teachers to create a new idea to help the children learn and have fun!
