Welcome to La Petite Academy of Clearwater, FL

Thank you for considering La Petite Academy of Clearwater, where we are proud to offer a safe, nurturing, and engaging educational preschool experience for children from eight weeks to five years old.

Our dedicated and experienced staff are passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a supportive environment where your child can thrive. Using our proprietary curriculum—beginning with Learn as We Grow for our youngest learners—we tailor each child’s learning journey to their unique age and developmental stage.

Many of our teachers have been part of the La Petite family for years, a testament to their deep commitment to the children and families we serve. Their warmth, care, and expertise help lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

To ensure peace of mind, we keep families connected throughout the day with real-time updates and live classroom video access through our exclusive mobile app, SproutAbout.

We transferred from another child care system, and definitely have seen a positive improvement in our 2 year old. The structured discipline and curriculum have him behaving better at home, and we’re always impressed by what he has retained from the things he’s learning. Give Your Child a Great Start With VPK

Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) is a free daily, 4-hour program that includes breakfast and lunch, with the option of extended wrap care. This full-day learning experience enhances your child’s school readiness journey. Every child who turns 4 by September 1 may be eligible for free VPK. Schedule a tour to learn more.

Education: B.S. in Educational Studies & Community Leadership

Certifications: VPK Endorsed Director’s Credential, CDA, Professional Development Specialist (CDA Council), CPR & First Aid

I am committed to leading with vision, compassion, and a deep understanding of the importance of high-quality education. With over 10 years of experience in the Early Childhood Education field, I have a proven track record of overseeing operations, guiding curriculum development, and fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes the growth and well-being of both students and staff. Outside of my professional role, I enjoy crafting, reading, and playing Dungeons & Dragons.

Kristin Mayhew, Assistant Director

Education: B.S. in Early Childhood Education

Certifications: VPK Endorsed Director’s Credential, CDA, CPR & First Aid

I am dedicated to supporting the daily operations of our school and fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for both students and staff. With over 10 years of experience in the Early Childhood Education field, I have developed a strong foundation in curriculum development, staff training, and program management. Outside of work, I enjoy reading and going to the beach with my family and friends.

Lexie Engelgau, Team Lead

Education: A.A. in Early Child Education

Certifications: CDA, CPR & First Aid

With a deep passion for early childhood development, I am a dedicated to providing a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment for the youngest learners. Having earned my Associates Degree from Hennepin Tech in Minnesota, I am able to bring over 10 years of experience working with children, recognizing the importance of the first years of life in shaping a child's future. When not in the classroom, I enjoy going to the beach with my dog Sophie and painting.
