Welcome to Our School
Welcome to La Petite Academy in Pelham, AL! This facility opened in 1988 with the goal of providing the best early education for families in the Shelby County area. We are an Alabama Quality rated school. We service all surrounding areas including Helena, Alabaster and Calera!
My name is Yasheta Sanderfer, I am the academy director, and I have been with the company for 17 years. I have been in the early education field for over 25 years and was awarded the District People Leadership Award in 2016 and the Above and Beyond award in 2018.
Our facility is a leader in early education, providing programs for infants and preschoolers through school-age children. Our teachers are highly trained and personally get to know and understand each child, to recognize their strengths, skill levels, and areas for improvements.
Staying safe and healthy at school is our top priority. Our enhanced health and safety practices include: screening staff and children upon arrival for temperature, symptoms, limiting parents, visitors and vendors to common areas only. More frequent hand washing and cleaning of surfaces and items in classrooms.
Stay connected from drop-off to pickup through our WatchMeGrow live-streaming camera access for our families and the brightwheel mobile app where our teachers send updates on your child's day, both right on your smart device.
We would like to introduce to you our Prep Lab, this program is for elementary school students, bridges potential learning gaps between school years. Our teachers have been trained to support local school district distance learning, as well as to integrate key math and literacy skills. We're here to keep children on course with their studies.

I have been with the Learning Care Group for 16 years. I been awarded the people Leadership Award in 2016 and the Above and Beyond award in 2018. I have three wonderful sons all that which have attend Lapetite Academy. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 17 years. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family.

I have been working for LCG for 3 years and loving it, but i have worked in the field for over 15 plus years. I have a wonderful husband who i have been married to for 2 years. I am the mother of 2 children and i have 4 grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

I have been with the Learning Care Group for four years. I was named 2019 Teacher of the Year for the District of Alabama. In my spare time I enjoy playing professional women's football, hiking, power lifting and traveling.

Hi I am Janay Weems, I was born and raised in Ashford, Al. I moved to Birmingham August 2010 to pursue my Bachelor's Degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. As a child I have always wanted to help shape and grow the lives of young children. I started working for La Petite Academy in October of 2015. This role has taught me many life lessons and rewards me daily because I know that I have helped impact a child's life.
