Welcome to Our School

Welcome to La Petite Academy in Lexington, KY. We offer Infant care beginning at six weeks of age, as well as a full or part-time Preschool program focusing on Kindergarten readiness and a School-Age program for before- and after-school care and full time care during school breaks for children up to 12 years of age.

We are 4-star rated through the Kentucky All Stars program. Our committed team of educators fosters children's growth, development and a lifelong love of learning!

We've had a wonderful experience with La Petite!! We were coming from a bad experience at a different daycare and were very nervous to try another but this school has been amazing! Our initial reason for even touring La Petite was that they had livestreaming available anytime that your child is checked in. This, especially at first, has been such a relief. day crying for me like almost every kid does at drop off. He's always fine 10 minutes later but I'd never know for sure without that livestream! They also document everything they eat and how much, if they use the restroom or get changed, have an accident, when they nap and wake and I think that's just so helpful! They do little crafts with the kids, celebrate their birthdays, have dress up and theme days. It's just a really fun place to be. Not to mention they have curriculums so they're teaching them too! My son has learned so much there. I'm always surprised by him. I appreciate this school so much!

Rachel Cosby, Director

Education: Associate's Degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education

Certifications: Kentucky Directors Credential, CPR/First Aid, Food Managers

Working with children has always been my passion. After teaching head start for two years, I decided to change directions and focus on helping and supporting teachers by providing them with the materials and resources they need to help children reach their potentials.

Christie Battaglia, Assistant Director

Education: Child Development Associate Degree

Certifications: CPR/First Aid, Kentucky Director's Credential, Food Managers Certification

Coming from 20+ years of early childhood experience, I found my home at La Petite. In my time here, I have been the infant teacher, safety captain, master teacher, and now assistant director. I enjoy working with the teachers and families to help build our program and exceed in providing quality care.

Each day at La Petite Academy is filled with opportunities for your child to learn, play, explore, and grow. Children explore learning centers, participate in small- and large-group activities, spend time outdoors, and enjoy plenty of opportunities for choice and play. Meals, snacks, and rest are also built into the day, creating a familiar routine that helps children feel comfortable while keeping each day fun and engaging. Daily activities are designed with your child’s age and developmental stage in mind.

Our teachers regularly observe your child’s development and use those insights to plan learning experiences that support their individual needs and growth. Each child has an individual portfolio that grows with them as they move from one age group to the next, capturing their learning, milestones, and accomplishments along the way. Teachers use developmental checklists, work samples, photos, and observations to understand how your child is progressing and identify opportunities to build new skills. Families stay connected every step of the way through SproutAbout updates, family-teacher conferences, and daily conversations with their child’s teachers.

Moving to a new classroom is an exciting milestone. Children gradually visit their new classroom, meet their teachers, and become familiar with new routines before the transition. Teachers work together to support continuity, while families receive regular updates throughout the process.
