Welcome to Our School

Welcome to La Petite Academy in Chesapeake, VA! We are so excited to get work with all of the families at La Petite Academy!

For more than 25 years, our center has helped children grow and develop in a safe and inviting environment. In addition to providing superior local Infant Care, our Toddler through Pre-Kindergarten programs offer the best early education in the community. We also have a new Before- and After-School program focused on developing self-esteem and independence.

Most of our teachers have earned degrees in early childhood education and have been working in the field for many years. Each teacher is certified in CPR and First Aid. We are also nut-free in order to keep children with allergies safe while they are in our care.

Kyera Smith, Director

Education: Associate's Degree in Social Sciences, focus in Child Psychology

Certifications: MAT Certified, CPR/First Aid Certified, Food Manager and ServSafe

My goal as the director is to provide a loving, educational environment that meets the needs of our children and families. I have more than 10 years of experience in child care and have been the Director of this amazing school since 2020. I take pride in our amazing staff, knowing they are the best of the best! I look forward to developing a relationship with you and your family to help foster a love of learning in your little one.

Education: Associates degree in Early Childhood Education

I started my career as a Lead School-Age teacher and branched out to management to make an impact on the entire school. With over 6 years of experience, my passion of quality and success of the center brings me the most joy. In my free time, I love being an awesome mom to my two boys. I look forward to developing relationships with you and your families!

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education

Certifications: CPR/First Aid Certified, MAT certified

It’s an honor to lead a school with such bright young minds, dedicated staff, and supportive school community. In addition to four years of experience, I began my formal education upon receiving my Bachelor's Degree in Education in 2015. I am currently in pursuit of my Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. I believe education is a lifelong process! It’s my goal to remain connected to the learning, growing and nurturing of our youth. I look forward to achieving this goal with your family!
