Welcome to Our School

Welcome to La Petite Academy here in Oakdale, MN!

Here, we offer Infant, Toddler, Preschool, and Pre-Kindergarten programs that provide the perfect foundation for learning and development. Each day, your child will be engaged in educational activities that take place in a secure, caring, and enriching environment. To provide this exceptional level of learning and care, our dedicated team of teachers participate in ongoing Early Childhood Education training throughout the year.

We’re committed to keeping you connected throughout the day while your child is in our care. You will have access to live streaming video of your child’s classroom, plus other real-time updates through our exclusive family mobile app, SproutAbout.

We also love welcoming families into our school community. Throughout the year, we host a variety of family events that invite you to engage with our teachers, explore the learning environment, and experience firsthand what makes La Petite Academy of Oakdale so special.

Daycare and Early Education Programs

Infants

6 weeks - 1 year

We’ve created a comfortable, secure space for your baby to thrive and grow.

Toddlers

1 - 2 years old

This age group has all the space they need to move, explore, and grow through hands-on learning.

Sarah Miles, Director

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development, Child and Family Studies – Early Childhood Professions

Certifications: CPR and First Aid/SUIDS/AHT

I have been fulfilling my passion working in Early Childhood Education for 12 years. My favorite moments with children are as simple as being intentional with each interaction I have with each kiddo, you can see how much this means to children. I was born and raised in Colorado, relocating to MN in 2020 . In my free time, I love spending time doing anything outside with my two children, husband, and our animals!

Education: Associates degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice

I have been working in childcare on and off for 12 years. I have been with La Petite Academy for 3! I have a degree in Criminal Justice and Law enforcement! My favorite activities to do with children in the classroom are messy sensory, and reading books with them! I love watching children grow into themselves and learn. I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter and reading in my free time!

Hi! I’m the Team Lead at La Petite and the Lead Teacher in our Preschool classroom. I’m passionate about caring for and helping others, and working in early childhood education has been my dream since I was a child! I love creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for our kiddos, and it brings me so much joy and fulfillment to watch them learn, grow, and thrive every day.

Each day at La Petite Academy is filled with opportunities for your child to learn, play, explore, and grow. Children explore learning centers, participate in small- and large-group activities, spend time outdoors, and enjoy plenty of opportunities for choice and play. Meals, snacks, and rest are also built into the day, creating a familiar routine that helps children feel comfortable while keeping each day fun and engaging. Daily activities are designed with your child’s age and developmental stage in mind.

Our teachers regularly observe your child’s development and use those insights to plan learning experiences that support their individual needs and growth. Each child has an individual portfolio that grows with them as they move from one age group to the next, capturing their learning, milestones, and accomplishments along the way. Teachers use developmental checklists, work samples, photos, and observations to understand how your child is progressing and identify opportunities to build new skills. Families stay connected every step of the way through SproutAbout updates, family-teacher conferences, and daily conversations with their child’s teachers.

Moving to a new classroom is an exciting milestone. Children gradually visit their new classroom, meet their teachers, and become familiar with new routines before the transition. Teachers work together to support continuity, while families receive regular updates throughout the process.
