Welcome to Our School

Welcome to La Petite Academy daycare and preschool! My name is DeAnne McMahan and I have been working within the Early Childhood Education field for 20 years. I have my Master's of Arts in Bicultural Studies as well as My Child Development Associate. Here at Harbor Island, our goal is to instill a love of learning while they play, learn, and grow.

Children learn best through guided play. I want to create an environment that is clean, safe and up to date for our children. La Petite Academy follows all licensing and health requirements plus many safeguards from the Learning Care Group.

Building foundations and making fun memories is what I want children to remember about their Preschool years. We create learning experiences based on our observations and assessments of our children providing them unique, customized lesson plans. It's the process and the joy of learning and making friendships along the way the makes Preschool so important. We want to introduce children to math, science, reading, art, and dramatic play without them feeling like they are in school. We also have activities to fit your needs throughout the entire year. We have summer camps and fun activities to keep your child entertained.

Makenna Toro, Assistant Director

Hi! I am Makenna Toro. I have been in Early Childhood Education for 10 years. I love working with children because of the idea that they are the future of the world. I help the teachers build an environment where the children here can nurture their imagination and learn from their peers. Our goal is to create a safe and creative space for the children enrolled in our center to learn as they grow.
