Book Lover’s Day – What’s Your Favorite Book?

Book Lover's Day

What better way to celebrate Book Lover’s Day on August 9 than by reading a book with your little ones? We asked some of our staff members to share their favorite children’s book, and we’d like to know what yours is, too!

Tessa Mayben – Program Assistant Director, Oklahoma City, OK

Favorite Book: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst

Why: It’s my favorite because all kids can relate to it and it allows the reader to be very expressive in the telling of it.

Dana and Brande – Junior Kindergarten Teachers, Powell, OH

Favorite Book: The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry

Why: There are so many things you can teach from the book like the environment, recycling, animals and life cycles. There are so many art and science projects that can be created from this book, also.

Renae Jones – Lead Pre-Kindergarten Teacher, St. Paul, MN

Favorite Book: One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss

Why: It’s the first story I remember my mother reading to me as a child. It’s also one that I like reading to the children in my class.
