Our Proprietary Two's Curriculum

Two's Program at La Petite Academy

The Two's Curriculum, developed by the La Petite Academy Education Department, is based on the unique developmental needs of two-year-olds.

The curriculum features 26 two-week units. Each unit has its own theme, such as Please and Thank You, Let's Go to the Zoo and Farm and City. The curriculum also suggests activities and literature to use for each theme.

Each week, the Two's teachers create a lesson plan. In creating the plan, the teachers take into consideration the suggested activities and literature, the children's interests and the developmental levels of the different children in the classroom.

Our teachers also have access to supplemental materials, such as the book Toddler Art, which offers suggestions for art activities. Art projects help two-year-olds develop fine motor skills, self-expression and creativity. In addition, Two's teachers spend time helping your child with toilet training to help her develop those skills before she enters the preschool program.

Two-year-old Developmental Milestones

Every child is an individual and will follow his own unique path toward developing. The Developmental Milestones are used simply as a resource for teachers and parents.

Two's teachers create daily lesson plans to ensure that they expose your child to the full breadth of activities necessary to reach various milestones.

Two's teachers assess your child four times a year to determine his progress toward the developmental milestones. These assessments are used to help teachers decide which activities to include in lesson plans. You are kept informed of your two-year-old's development and progress toward becoming a preschooler through parent-teacher conferences twice during the year.
