Preparing Your Child for Kindergarten
Preschoolers love to explore through hands-on activities. At La Petite, learning becomes meaningful to Preschoolers when engaging experiences are based around their interests and prior knowledge. Our Journey™ Preschool Program uses your child’s natural curiosity and desire to explore the world to prepare him successfully to enter kindergarten.
Our Preschool Journey Curriculum combines kindergarten readiness activities with the best early childhood standards from across the nation. In addition to giving your child the necessary skills for kindergarten, our Preschool Program develops critical thinking and stimulates your child’s creativity.
How We Achieve It
Our Preschool teachers can customize the Journey Curriculum’s 26 themed units and 2,000 learning activities to meet the development needs of each group of early learners. Activities are designed to teach language and communication, cognitive skills, creativity, gross- and fine-motor skills, and personal and social skills.
The Preschool classroom features seven learning centers equipped with inviting and developmentally appropriate materials. For example, our science center is equipped with magnets, mirrors, shells and rocks, which immerse your child in an active investigation of natural and physical science. We also structure the day to offer plenty of outdoor activity time, providing an opportunity for your child to learn while exercising her body as well as her mind.
Preschoolers also learn important social skills in our Kids of Character program.
Parents are given assessment updates throughout the year. These include daily written reports of your child’s day, ongoing portfolio collections, quarterly assessment reports and family/teacher conferences twice a year.
