Toddler Daycare (12+ months)
Learning through Exploration
Your child’s first years in child care are a critical time that can determine success in school, relationships and life. Watching your child begin to assert his or her independence is exciting and rewarding.
La Petite Academy Toddler Program focuses on active exploration and hands-on learning activities to help your child gain independence while also promoting confidence in his or her learning abilities.
How We Achieve It
We recognize that children at this age may be at very different stages of development. Some may have just started walking, while others are already exploring the many other facets of their emerging development. Our highly trained teachers create fun and rewarding activities that address each child’s developmental needs.
The Toddler Program at La Petite Academy focuses on a Whole Child Education and is designed around shared learning experiences that stimulate and challenge your child each and every day. We know that children learn best by having a variety of choices in an organized environment. That is why our learning centers abide by state-mandated teacher-to-child ratios, and include materials and manipulatives as well as planned activities that promote fine- and gross-motor skills, receptive and expressive language, positive relationships with peers and adults, and intellectual curiosity — all while nurturing your child’s developing sense of self.
Our clean and inviting classrooms and our curriculum are set up to promote active exploration. Our teachers plan exciting activities that will keep your toddler actively engaged throughout the day. Each day we’ll give your child time to exercise his or her body and mind, both indoors and out. We provide age appropriate climbers for motor development and tabletop toys such as simple puzzles and modeling clay for cognitive and fine motor development. For creative expression we provide blocks, stacking toys, dress-up clothes and art materials. To help children learn new language and listening skills, we offer books, songs, rhymes, chants and puppets.
Families receive a daily log of their child’s feeding, sleeping, diapering and learning activities. Teachers also perform assessments twice a year using developmental checklists.
