Nurturing and Responsive Infant Care

When you choose La Petite Academy child care, you can be confident your baby will experience a nurturing and calming environment, focused on developing positive and trusting relationships.

Starting when your infant is six weeks old, we’ll nurture his or her development and daily needs the same way you do. Our specially trained teachers build a bond of trust with your baby and with you. We’ll also stimulate your baby’s cognitive, emotional and physical development by singing, talking, holding, reading and playing with him or her. Combining all this while abiding by state-mandated teacher-to-child ratios yields the kind of infant child care environment where children learn best and flourish.

How We Achieve It

Our teachers turn caretaking routines into “care teaching” opportunities, basing their lesson plans on your child’s unique individual needs and developmental level. Activities focus on skills linked to large- and fine-motor development along with cognitive, social-emotional and language development. A simple game of hide-and-seek is an opportunity to encourage memory development. Our teachers plan stimulating sensory activities such as finger painting and water play. They also plan fun games, rhymes, songs, and finger plays to help your infant learn language while promoting social skills. You can expect that when your baby plays with soft blocks, stacking and nesting toys, and pop-up toys, our teachers will be there to support his or her developing cognitive skills. Push toys, soft climbers and pull-up bars will also give your baby a chance to practice those important motor skills that lead to greater mobility and independence.

Every day, you will receive a log of your child’s feeding, sleeping, diapering and learning activities. Teachers also perform assessments twice a year using developmental checklists.
