Hands-On Learning with Our Journey™ Child Care Curriculum

By the time your child approaches three years of age, he or she is ready to learn new skills and progress into our Early Preschool Program. The Early Preschool Program’s Journey Curriculum is designed to prepare your child as he or she begins an educational voyage that will eventually lead to Kindergarten and beyond.

Our Early Preschool Journey Curriculum combines Kindergarten-readiness activities with the best early child care standards from across the nation. In addition to Kindergarten readiness, our Early Preschool Program focuses on developing critical-thinking skills and stimulating your child’s curiosity.

How We Achieve It

Our Early Preschool teachers can customize the Journey Curriculum’s 26 themed units, such as Nursery Rhymes and My Five Senses, and 1,000 different learning activities to meet the diverse interests and needs of each group of children. Activities such as creating puppet theaters, exploring sinking and floating, going on shape hunts, acting out favorite stories and easel painting are designed to teach language and communication, cognitive skills, creativity, gross- and fine-motor skills, and personal and social skills.

The Early Preschool classroom features seven learning centers equipped with inviting and developmentally appropriate materials. For example, our writing center, equipped with a personal journal for each student, teaches pre-writing skills by allowing children to draw pictures and write or dictate their stories. You’ll also notice that our math and manipulatives area is filled with materials such as tape measures, objects for counting and sorting, shapes, learning games and puzzles, just to name a few. Plus, our commitment to state-mandated teacher-to-child ratios ensure that every child receives the loving attention he or she deserves.

Early preschoolers also learn important social skills in our literature-based Kids of Character Program.

Parents are given assessment updates throughout the year. These include daily written reports on your child’s day, ongoing portfolio collections, quarterly assessment reports and family/teacher conferences twice a year.
